Dan from Google was the main speaker. Stephen Salinger from Earthlink was there to field questions, as always. Michael McCarthy from the TechConnect Task Force spoke a bit.

The atmosphere was nice enough. Dan noted that some people had read the media coverage & had thought that the network was well on its way, rather than (at the time) not approved by the mayor or the Board of Supervisors.

This meeting is for the neighborhoods of Cow Hollow, Marina, & Pacific Heights.

The main speaker was Chris (sp?) from Google, & Stephen (sp?) from Earthlink was there, just answering questions.

The background noise of the microphone sometimes drowns out people other than the speaker. The questions at this meeting mainly revolved around the level of energy that will be emitted, compared to baby monitors & cell phones, but not radio stations or the sun.

Boring technical details follow.

I attempted some noise reduction, to no good effect, except background beeping like a 1950s movie computer. The noise reduction sometimes completely removed any sound from the audience. I have some new gear – new microphones, phantom power supply – that sound much clearer, although possibly quieter.

I just trimmed the audio, removed pops, compressed the audio levels, & amplified it.

They’re holding community forums (fora?) to tell people about their proposal. (Hm – it points over here.)
I’d heard about heated opposition at previous meetings, so I decided to observe one. There wasn’t any acrimony here.
